My family actually did this in the summer when I was a kid -- piled in the car and visited our grandparents at the farm. Well, it wasn't a working farm, but it was a place where I made dolls from hollyhock flowers, just as my mother had done, ate hand-churned ice cream, and caught june bugs in a jar. It's fashionable now to sneer at Dick and Jane, Leave it to Beaver and Father Knows Best, but I'm glad I'm old enough to remember those days.
